What's your motivation?

BUY CLOTHES TOO SMALL AS WEIGHT-LOSS MOTIVATION?

You see an item you love, but its not in your size. Do you put it back and tell yourself, "oh well, maybe next time"? Or do you buy it with the goal of fitting into it someday soon? Buying an item too small to fit into right now can be a great weight-loss motivator! We all know, when it comes to losing weight, any motivation is good motivation.

BUY THE REWARD BEFORE REACHING THE GOAL

Buying your goal outfit helps you keep an eye on the prize. Remember when you were a kid and were told you could go outside to play as soon as your homework was done? Didn’t you rush to get everything done so you could enjoy that favorite slide or jungle gym? Having that item of clothing hanging in our closet is a nice visual reminder of why we're putting forth the effort to lose weight. We want to feel great and look even better! It could be the edge that has you going to the gym that day or brushing it off.

TANGIBLE EVIDENCE THAT WHAT YOU'RE DOING IS WORKING

We see on the scale that we've lost five pounds, but then wonder if its just water weight. We look in the mirror and think we're looking thinner, but question if our perception is off. Co-workers comment that we look like we've lost some weight, but then maybe they’re just being nice. That article of clothing is the unbiased measuring stick that you need. If it fits, then you know your weight loss program is working.

KNOW YOURSELF AND BUY ACCORDINGLY

Do you like to play it safe and enjoy monitoring each step of your success? Buy clothes that are only one-- or at the very most two-- sizes too small. If your goal outfit is too many sizes away from your current size, it can cause a negative reaction and have you feeling as if you aren’t have any success in all of your hard work. If you are a more adventurous type, however, then three or four sizes too small may be what motivates you best. You know yourself best so set yourself up for success!

The amount you spend should be according to your type as well. Larger purchases for the more adventurous, and smaller purchases for conservative types.
